@DentonPolice are you kidding me? OF COURSE. I need to know so I can get a jumpstart on damage control (or viral leakage) depending who

How does it work?

When someone you know appears on the Denton City Jail Custody Report, you will be sent a TXT message to your phone with the arrest info about that individual. In the future, other notification avenues will be made available, such as email, or direct message on AIM or Twitter, etc.

@brianbaugh how would the notification service determine if I know someone who was arrested?

Currently you have to manually type in the names, and optionally birthdates, of the people you would like to be notified if are arrested. If there proves to be demand for the service, I will look into importing your contacts, such as from your Facebook account or email contact list.

How do I become an alpha tester?

I am currently accepting invitations to join the alpha test of the Arrest Notification Service on a limited basis. When you request to join you will be added to the queue, and I will add you as quickly as is possible.

Since the service is brand new, I haven't yet had the time to create easy web forms for automatic Sign Up and adding People You Know. Until then, everything will be done via email.

Get Notified via Cell Phone TXT

If you would like to join, send an email to arrestnotification@brianbaugh.com with your cell phone number and service provider (Sprint, AT&T, etc). When you are accepted, a verification code will be sent to the phone to verify your account.

Get Notified via Email

Follow the same instructions under "What do I do after verifying my phone?", except specify you would like to receive notifications via email instead of your phone.

What do I do after verifying my phone?

Once you receive the verification message, email the code to arrestnotification@brianbaugh.com along with the names (and optionally birthdates) of the people you would like to be notified if are arrested.

Use one of the following formats:
Know exact birthdate: FirstName,LastName,MM/DD/YYYY
Know Approximate age (will match if within 3 years): FirstName,LastName,AA
Age not known (notify based on name only): FirstName,LastName

See the example below:

To: arrestnotification@brianbaugh.com
From: you@youraddress.com
Subject: Phone Verification

Body:
The code sent to my phone 555-555-555 was abcd1234.

John,Doe,01/23/1987
Jane,Smith,25
Jacob,Brown
...

You will be sent a confirmation email once your account has been setup.

How can I be notified for areas other than Denton?

If you are interested in a similar service for your area, email arrestnotification@brianbaugh.com with the name of the city you would like the service extended. If your area provides arrest information online, and there is enough interest expressed for your area, I may add the area to the service.
